Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released some special measures to support who may have been affected by the current coronavirus pandemic.

Many people around the world may have visa applications that require immediate attention and it is not possible to respect deadlines or provide documentation due to disruption of services, closure of visa offices, impossibility to travel or to reach local government offices, impossibility to reach an authorized center for performing biometrics or medical exams. Many people may also be in the condition to need a travel document to come back to Canada.

There are various possibilities of deadline extensions or document exemptions for applicants in some conditions and special instructions for others.

The special measures available are currently reserved for Chinese, Iranian or South Korean nationals or persons who are currently in China, Iran or South Korea, and are affected by service disruptions or travel restrictions related to the coronavirus COVID-19.

Whatever is your condition, you can find some advice and special measures details in the following link:

The current measures have been updated on February 29, 2020.

Hopefully, there will be a further update soon in order to align the measures to the evolving situation of the pandemic.
